POL Polygon Wallet Checker

Check a Polygon wallet for scams & sanctions

Polygon's low fees made it the leading chain for NFT games, DeFi protocols โ€” and for scammers who needed cheap high-volume transactions. Check any MATIC or POL address before you interact.

Home ยท Networks ยท Polygon

Polygon (formerly Matic) peaked as the go-to chain for NFT gaming in 2021โ€“2022. Hundreds of play-to-earn projects launched, attracted players, and rug-pulled within months. Those wallet addresses are still in risk databases. A Polygon address from 2022 might carry flags from projects that no longer exist.

Polygon's specific risk profile

Since Polygon uses the same 0x address format as Ethereum, the same address often has activity on both chains. A wallet might look clean on Ethereum mainnet but carry significant risk on Polygon specifically โ€” but Polygon and Ethereum are byte-identical in address format and genuinely different networks, so we cannot check Polygon activity yet without risking showing you the wrong chain's data. We check real Ethereum mainnet only.

Polygon transactions cost fractions of a cent. This makes it cheap to run automated drainer attacks โ€” a malicious smart contract can drain thousands of wallets simultaneously for a total gas cost under $10. Polygon has been a preferred chain for NFT approval-based drainers since 2022.

Cross-chain bridge risk

Funds often move from Ethereum mainnet to Polygon via the official bridge or third-party bridges like Hop Protocol and Across. Each bridge crossing adds complexity to the transaction trail. Funds that were risky on mainnet arrive on Polygon looking "clean" to superficial checks โ€” because the bridge address shows as the immediate sender. Our multi-hop analysis follows the trail back through bridges.

The Ronin Bridge hack (March 2022, $625 million stolen) moved some funds via Polygon. Addresses that handled Ronin hack proceeds are still flagged across all chains the funds touched, including Polygon.

What we actually check today

We check Bitcoin, Ethereum mainnet and TRON (including USDT on TRC-20) against OFAC SDN and UK/UN/AU/CH sanctions lists, darknet market exposure, mixer usage and ransomware payment addresses. We do not have a real Polygon data source yet, so a Polygon address gets an honest "not supported" message instead of a guess based on Ethereum mainnet data for the same-looking address.

@cryptoamlscan_bot checks Bitcoin, Ethereum and TRON (USDT TRC-20) โ€” not Polygon or other EVM sidechains yet. the first check includes OCR and PDF; the next two free checks are basic.

Polygon AML โ€” FAQ

Is MATIC the same as POL?
Polygon rebranded its native token from MATIC to POL in 2024 as part of the upgrade to Polygon 2.0. The addresses are the same โ€” a wallet that held MATIC now holds POL. The rebrand does not change the transaction history or risk profile.
Can I check a Polygon NFT contract address?
Not yet. A Polygon contract address uses the same 0x format as Ethereum, so we can't reliably tell it apart from a real Ethereum contract โ€” pasting it here would risk showing you Ethereum data for a Polygon contract. We check Bitcoin, Ethereum mainnet and TRON contract/wallet addresses only.
Does Polygon activity affect my Ethereum mainnet reputation?
At major exchanges, yes. Since the 0x address is the same, Binance and Coinbase screen activity across all EVM chains simultaneously. A high-risk interaction on Polygon can flag your mainnet deposits. Always check cross-chain before large transactions.
